Description

Griotte-Chambertin is located below Clos de Bèze and directly next to Chapelle-Chambertin. With a total area of just under three hectares, the Grand Cru is extremely small and accordingly rare. The protected location and the chalk and clay soils produce Pinot Noir that can combine the power of a Gevrey Grand Cru with an unusually fine, supple structure.

Fourrier's wine is bottled as Vieille Vigne and comes from very old Pinot Noir vines. These old vines are an important part of the Domaine's signature style. Low natural yields and deep-reaching roots ensure concentration and complexity without the wine having to be heavily extracted in the cellar. Fourrier does not seek maximum power here, but rather depth, precision, and the clearest possible translation of this exceptional terroir.

The 2024 vintage was extremely challenging due to a lot of precipitation and strong disease pressure, yielding only small quantities. The quality of the Griotte-Chambertin is all the more remarkable: it combines the natural depth of the site with the freshness and elegance of the vintage. A great, yet astonishingly fine Grand Cru, whose strength lies less in massive structure than in finesse, complexity, and length.

The Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru is one of the most significant and at the same time smallest Grand Cru appellations of Gevrey-Chambertin. For Domaine Fourrier, it is one of the top bottlings of the house. Jean-Marie Fourrier and his son Louis also adhere to their characteristic philosophy here: natural concentration should come from old vines and the vineyard, while cellar work should obscure the origin as little as possible.

Das erwartet dich beim Trinken
Red and dark berries, ripe cherry, and delicate floral notes combine with subtle spices, forest floor, and mineral undertones.
Deep and at the same time exceptionally elegant. Fine-grained tannins, juicy Pinot Noir fruit and a precise mineral structure create tension. Complex and long with a fine, spicy finish.
Ideal with pigeon, venison, deer, duck breast, lamb, beef fillet, wildfowl, and fine dishes with mushrooms or truffles.
