Description

The Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2024 comes from three parcels in Corpeau, Volnay, and Meursault. The age of the vines is particularly noteworthy: the oldest parcel, Les Grands Clous Perrons in Meursault, was planted in 1951, Champ l’Huillier in Corpeau in 1962, and Monpoulain near Volnay in 1972. Thus, even this Bourgogne Rouge boasts exceptionally old vine material, which gives the wine additional depth and substance.

The 2024 vintage presented Pierre Vincent with significant challenges. Humid weather and high disease pressure led to significantly lower yields; for Pinot Noir, the average yield in the vineyard was only around 18 hl/ha. The later growing season was more favorable, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly. Due to the good ripeness of the stems, Pierre Vincent opted for a significantly higher proportion of whole clusters in 2024 than usual – around 70% were vinified as whole clusters.

After a cool pre-fermentation phase, a gentle maceration fermentation follows. The subsequent aging is long and understated, so as not to overshadow the fine structure and freshness of the vintage. This results in a Bourgogne Pinot Noir that looks far beyond its regional classification: old vines, extremely low yields, and Pierre Vincent’s precise craftsmanship produce a characterful, finely structured Burgundy with remarkable depth of origin.

With Domaine Pierre Vincent, Pierre Vincent realized his own winery project in Auxey-Duresses in 2023. Previously, he gained many years of experience at renowned Burgundian domaines – first at Domaine de la Vougeraie, later at Domaine Leflaive. His own domaine covers around seven hectares, with a focus on old vines, meticulous vineyard work, and the most precise possible representation of the different terroirs.
