Description
Morgeot is one of Chassagne-Montrachet's most powerful and profound Premier Cru sites. However, the "Les Fairendes" parcel combines this typical substance with remarkable precision and elegance. The lime and clay-rich soils give the Chardonnay a striking salty minerality and a dense, yet very focused structure. Vincent & François Jouard deliberately interpret the site in a classic, terroir-driven way – focusing on balance and Burgundian finesse rather than pure opulence.
The 2023 Premier Cru is particularly harmonious and energetic at the same time. The Chardonnay combines fine ripeness with fresh minerality and a very clear, straightforward structure. Despite its depth and concentration, the wine never appears heavy or broad, but incredibly calm and elegantly structured. It is precisely this combination of Morgeot power and precise finesse that makes "Les Fairendes" particularly characterful.
The oak aging remains subtle and excellently integrated, so that origin and vintage uncompromisingly take center stage. As a result, the Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru displays a great Côte-de-Beaune style – mineral, elegant, with a long, salty-elegant finish and great aging potential.
