Description

The Meursault “Meix Chavaux” 2021 comes from the Lieu-dit of the same name in the northern part of the Meursault appellation, towards Auxey-Duresses. Meix Chavaux is comparatively high-lying and is one of those Village vineyards that can produce a particularly fresh, straightforward, and mineral-driven side of Meursault. The calcareous soils and cooler location lend tension and precision to the Chardonnay.

The 2021 vintage particularly beautifully underscores this character. The generally fresher style of the year meets the natural tautness of the site here. The result is not a heavy or overly opulent Meursault, but a Chardonnay with a fine creaminess, clear structure, and a lively mineral line.

A terroir-driven Meursault that convincingly combines the signature of Violot-Guillemard and the distinctive character of Meix Chavaux. An exciting wine for lovers of precise and elegant Burgundies.

The Domaine Violot-Guillemard is based in Pommard and is one of the Côte de Beaune's traditional family estates. Joannès Violot-Guillemard manages the winery with a clear focus on the different terroirs of his plots. The vineyards are farmed organically, while in the cellar, a restrained vinification aims to preserve the character of the origin and vintage as clearly as possible.
