Description
Corton-Charlemagne is one of Burgundy's most monumental Chardonnay sites, combining enormous depth with exceptional mineral precision. The high-altitude, calcareous and marl-rich soils on the Corton hill give the wine a distinctive salty tension and a powerful, yet incredibly elegant structure. Noblet-Gauthier consciously interprets this Grand Cru in a classic and terroir-driven way – with a focus on balance, clarity, and Burgundian finesse rather than pure opulence.
The 2023 Corton-Charlemagne is particularly lively and energetic, yet at the same time incredibly calm and harmoniously structured. The Chardonnay combines impressive concentration with precise freshness and a very clear, linear structure. Despite its depth, the wine never appears heavy or broad, but instead incredibly focused and elegant. It is precisely this combination of Grand Cru power and ethereal minerality that makes the 2023 particularly fascinating.
The wood aging remains subtle and exceptionally well integrated, ensuring that the origin and vintage remain uncompromisingly in focus. As a result, the Corton-Charlemagne displays a grand Côte de Beaune style – profound, mineral, with a long, salty-elegant finish and extraordinary aging potential.
