Description
The “La Regista” Chianti Riserva 2021 is one of the classically styled wines from Il Palagio. Its name means “the female director” and is a tribute to Trudie Styler, who, in addition to her work as a producer, also works as a director. While some of the estate’s wines are deliberately conceived as modern Toscana IGT blends, La Regista is more closely oriented towards the traditional style of Chianti.
At its core is Sangiovese, whose natural acidity and firm structure suit the hilly vineyards of the region perfectly. The longer maturation as a Riserva gives the wine time to combine its youthful fruit with spicy, herbal, and balsamic notes. In doing so, the typical freshness of the Sangiovese is preserved, creating an exciting contrast to the more mature structure.
The 2021 vintage is balanced and classically Tuscan. Within the Il Palagio range, La Regista is a serious, structured red wine that focuses less on immediate fruitiness and more on origin, spice, and aging potential. A characterful Chianti Riserva and a versatile companion to robust Italian cuisine.
