Description
The “Roxanne” Rosso 2024 is named after the famous song by The Police and is based on two classic Tuscan grape varieties. The cuvée consists of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Ciliegiolo. Ciliegiolo in particular complements the Sangiovese with juicy fruit and harmoniously rounds off its vibrant acidity and structure.
The grapes are harvested by hand at the end of September. After the harvest, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with about ten days of skin contact. During the subsequent aging process, the use of wood is deliberately restrained: about 80% of the wine remains in stainless steel, with only 20% aged in wood. As a result, the focus is not on the barrel, but on the juicy fruit of the two Tuscan grape varieties.
The 2024 vintage thus presents itself as an uncomplicated yet characterful Toscana Rosso with plenty of cherry fruit, Mediterranean spice, and a lively structure. A wine that reflects the connection between Tuscan tradition and the personal project of Sting and Trudie Styler in an accessible way.
The Tenuta Il Palagio is located in the hills of Tuscany south of Florence and is owned by Sting and Trudie Styler.
