Description
The Marienburg GG is the quintessence of the famous Pünderich steep slope vineyard and combines the different slate characteristics of the site in a single wine. Grey, red, and blue slate together provide enormous mineral depth and that unmistakable tension that makes Clemens Busch's Rieslings so unique.
In 2023, the Grosses Gewächs presents itself as incredibly precise and full of energy at the same time. The wine appears taut and vibrant but builds enormous calm and complexity with aeration. Instead of expressive fruit, the Marienburg clearly focuses on herbal spice, smokiness, and salty minerality. It is precisely this transparency and cool elegance that makes the wine so impressive.
The vinification is uncompromisingly puristic and minimalist, so that the origin remains authentically in focus. As a result, the Marienburg GG displays a very distinctive Mosel style – profound, mineral, with a long, powerful finish and great aging potential.
