The Hallgarten Hendelberg is one of the finest Riesling sites in the Upper Rheingau. The steep vineyards, with their slate and quartzite-rich soils, produce wines characterized less by power and more by precision, freshness, and mineral tension. As a VDP.Erste Lage (1G), the Hendelberg stands for an elegant and very terroir-driven style.
In 2023, the Riesling presents itself as incredibly clear and vibrant. The wine appears taut and linear, yet at the same time finely and harmoniously structured. Instead of opulent fruit, Prinz deliberately focuses on cool herbal spice, salty minerality, and a precise acid structure. It is precisely this vibrating freshness that makes the Hendelberg so full of character.
The winemaking remains deliberately puristic and restrained, ensuring that the origin of the site takes center stage without compromise. As a result, the Riesling shows great finesse, mineral pull, and a long, elegant finish with a classic Rheingau signature.
