red wine

Red wine production is quite complex compared to white wine: the red color arises from the contact of the grape juice with the must from the grape skins. However, if the wine is stored for too long, it quickly becomes bitter. And this, combined with the numerous aging and fermentation possibilities, the selection of the right yeast, and the maturation period, results in a wine category that, while highly complex and prone to error, simultaneously offers unexpected depth in style and character. It is therefore no surprise that it is usually red wines, with their complexity and personality, that are sought after in the rare wine market.

Well-known red wine varieties include, for example, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, the Italian Sangiovese, Zweigelt, and the Burgenland Blaufränkisch.
