Position

The soils in the Palatinate region, where the Jülg Winery is located, are highly diverse and significantly contribute to the quality of the wines. The region features calcareous soils, clayey subsoils, sand, and slate, creating ideal conditions for various grape varieties. This diversity allows for the cultivation of varieties such as Riesling, Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder), and Sauvignon Blanc, imbuing them with their unique characteristics. The soils in the Palatinate contribute to the terroir expression and are a crucial factor in the outstanding wines of the Jülg Winery. They offer a rich palette of aromas and enhance the diversity of Palatinate winemaking.

Grape varieties

Sauvignon Blanc is a versatile white grape variety known for its vibrant aromas and characteristic freshness. Originally from Bordeaux in France, it is now grown worldwide. Sauvignon Blanc wines are renowned for their notes of green grass, gooseberry, citrus fruits, and herbs. They can range from dry to off-dry and are popular as refreshing aperitifs or as accompaniments to seafood, salads, and light poultry dishes.
