Description
Schauer's 2024 Riesling Kitzeck-Sausal comes from one of the coolest and highest-situated wine regions in Austria. The steep slate slopes around Kitzeck impart a distinctive minerality and a particularly clear, precise style to the wine. It is precisely the interplay of cool climate and barren soils that creates so much tension and elegance.
The 2024 vintage is very focused and straightforward. The wine appears lively and finely structured, with a cool freshness and a mineral depth typical of Sausal. Despite its precision, the Riesling remains very harmonious and approachable.
Schauer focuses on a reductive winemaking process with a strong emphasis on origin and clarity. As a result, the wine exhibits a modern South Styrian style – mineral, elegant, and with a long, animating finish.
