The Cuvée X from the Knipser winery has made a name for itself among connoisseurs as probably the most famous Bordeaux blend in Germany. And rightly so, because it certainly doesn't need to hide from the greats from France: On the nose, a lush, spicy bouquet of Blackberry, Blackcurrant , tobacco, cocoa, vanilla, mint, and a hint of smoked meat. After the wine displays a deep, almost black color and, on the palate, a perfect balance between juicy fruit, fine-grained tannins, and smoky-chocolate notes. Pairs excellently with lamb and braised dishes.

The soils in the Knisper winery region are diverse and contribute significantly to the quality of the wines. The vineyards extend across different soil types, including loess and limestone. This diversity creates optimal conditions for growing Riesling and Pinot Noir. The grapes for Cuvée X grow in the best sites, predominantly characterized by limestone.

For Cuvée X, a classic Bordeaux blend consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc is used.

The yield was significantly reduced through short pruning and "green harvesting" during the summer to produce a dense and intense wine. The 2020 harvest took place selectively by hand at the end of September. The Mediterranean climate of that summer resulted in perfectly ripe, picture-perfect berries. The grapes were destemmed and traditionally fermented on the skins for several weeks. This was followed by malolactic fermentation and 24 months of aging in new French oak barriques.
