Description
The Zieregg XT 2018 is one of Tement's most uncompromising Sauvignon Blancs. The grapes come from the oldest and most barren plots of Ried Zieregg, one of the most significant sites in Southern Styria. Coral limestone, cool air currents, and the extreme steepness of the slope give the wine exceptional depth and mineral tension. "XT" stands for a particularly consistent, terroir-driven interpretation of the site.
The 2018 vintage brings more calm and density without losing the precise style of Zieregg. The wine appears concentrated and multifaceted, yet taut and focused. Instead of overt fruit, the focus here is on salty minerality, texture, and an almost smoky depth.
Tement works organically and uses a very reduced vinification for the XT, with plenty of time and patience. This results in a Sauvignon Blanc with extraordinary complexity and an almost Burgundian feel – powerful, precise, and with enormous aging potential.
