Position

Santa Barbara County is one of California's most diverse wine regions, characterized by a unique microclimate and geographical features. The east-west orientation of the valleys allows cool Pacific winds to penetrate deep inland, promoting a long, even ripening period for the grapes. The soils are extremely varied, ranging from calcareous clay to sandy and volcanic soils.

Grape varieties

California Pinot Noir displays aromas of red cherries, strawberries, violets, and a delicate spiciness, shaped by the cool, misty climates (Sonoma Coast, Santa Rita Hills). The wines are elegant, with silky tannins and lively acidity, while warmer sites like the Russian River Valley develop riper, fruit-forward notes. Californian Pinot Noir shines with balance, finesse, and terroir-driven diversity, often with Burgundian influences.
