Description
Falkenlay within Marienburg is one of Clemens Busch's coolest and most precise parcels. The gray slate soils lend the Riesling an extremely fine, almost stony minerality and a very clear, straightforward structure. Compared to the more powerful red slate sites, Falkenlay often appears more delicate, cooler, and more characterized by finesse.
In 2023, the Grosses Gewächs reveals itself to be incredibly vibrant and transparent. The wine appears slender and focused, yet builds enormous pressure and tension. Instead of expressive fruit, Falkenlay clearly emphasizes herbal spice, salty minerality, and an almost ethereal elegance. It is precisely this tranquility and precision that make the wine so impressive.
The vinification remains uncompromisingly puristic and restrained, ensuring that the origin remains unadulterated. As a result, the Falkenlay GG exhibits a very terroir-driven Mosel style – cool, mineral, with a long, vibrant finish and great aging potential.
