Description
The Gevrey-Chambertin "Les Jeunes Rois" 2023 from Domaine Pernot Père et Fils is a characterful Pinot Noir from a single parcel of vines over 80 years old. The old vines and the stony subsoil give the wine a special combination of depth, finesse and mineral tension.
In the glass, Les Jeunes Rois appears elegant and complex. Cherries, raspberries and dark forest berries form the fruity core, accompanied by floral notes, fine spice and subtle earthy hints. The long aging in oak barrels provides additional structure and depth, without pushing the clear fruit into the background.
On the palate, the Pinot Noir is concentrated and at the same time finely drawn. Juicy fruit meets precise tannins and a lively freshness. A mineral, slightly spicy vein runs through the wine and provides tension right through to the long finish. An elegant and profound Gevrey-Chambertin, which already shows its quality when young, but should particularly benefit from further bottle aging.
