Description
The Hermannsberg in Niederhausen is one of the most historically significant Riesling sites on the Nahe. The volcanic soils, with their melaphyr and slate components, give the wine a distinctive mineral depth and that typical smoky tension that makes Gut Hermannsberg wines so unique. As a GG Reserve, the wine showcases the most uncompromising and long-lived interpretation of this site.
In 2019, the Grosses Gewächs appears incredibly calm and profound. The Riesling combines ripe fruit with salty minerality and an almost stony precision. Instead of relying on volume or sheer power, the Reserve clearly emphasizes structure, tension, and a very aristocratic elegance. With aeration, the wine develops additional complexity and an impressive inner calm.
The long maturation period and precise vinification give the wine enormous depth without sacrificing its freshness. As a result, the Hermannsberg GG Reserve displays a highly characterful Nahe style – powerful yet incredibly refined, with smoky minerality, a long, vibrant finish, and great aging potential.
