Description
The Kupfergrube is one of Germany's most iconic volcanic sites. The weathered volcanic and slate soils around Schlossböckelheim give the Riesling a striking smoky minerality and an extraordinary depth. As a GG Reserve, the wine shows the most uncompromising and long-lived interpretation of this site – with additional aging time and enormous precision.
2019 brings ideal conditions for this style. The Riesling appears powerful and concentrated, yet incredibly clear and focused. Instead of opulent fruit, the Kupfergrube Reserve clearly emphasizes salty tension, herbal spice, and an almost stony, volcanic structure. With air, the wine develops enormous calm and complexity, without losing its energy.
The long aging on the lees and the deliberately restrained vinification lend additional depth and texture. This makes the Kupfergrube GG Reserve appear monumental and at the same time extremely precise – a great Nahe Riesling with smoky minerality, vibrant tension, and exceptional aging potential.
