Description
The 2022 Chardonnay Katterstein from Kollwentz comes from one of the most distinctive sites on the Leithaberg. The barren limestone and slate soils around the Katterstein give the wine a striking mineral tension and ensure a particularly precise, long-lived style.
The 2022 vintage produced Chardonnays that were concentrated yet very elegant. The wine appears dense and structured, yet remains clearly and calmly built. Aging in oak barrels adds additional depth and complexity without obscuring the origin of the site.
Typical for Kollwentz is the classic, terroir-driven style with a strong focus on balance and aging potential. The Chardonnay Katterstein thus shows less upfront fruit, but rather structure, minerality, and a fine Burgundian elegance.
