Description
Kollwentz's 2023 Chardonnay Katterstein comes from one of the most distinctive sites on Leithaberg. The barren limestone and slate soils of the Katterstein produce particularly precise and mineral Chardonnays, which focus more on tension and elegance than on pure power.
The 2023 vintage presents itself as very clear and focused. Despite its depth, the wine appears taut and finely structured, with a cool, almost salty minerality and a lot of composure on the palate. The careful aging in oak barrels supports the structure without masking the origin of the site.
Kollwentz pursues a classic, terroir-driven style with a lot of patience in its development. This results in a Chardonnay with Burgundian elegance, clear structure and great development potential – precise, mineral and exceptionally long-lived.
