Description
The Nussbrunnen is one of the great classic Riesling sites of the Rheingau. The deep soils of slate, quartzite, and loess lend the wine a special combination of power, elegance, and mineral tension. In Prinz's style, the Nussbrunnen appears less opulent than many other Rheingau GGs – rather precise, cool, and very finely structured.
2021 offers ideal conditions for this. The Riesling displays enormous freshness, a vibrant acidity, and an almost salty minerality that runs through the entire wine. Instead of ripe fruit, the GG clearly focuses on tension, herbal spice, and an incredibly clear profile. With aeration, the wine develops additional depth and an impressive calmness.
The vinification remains deliberately puristic and restrained, so that the origin is uncompromisingly at the forefront. As a result, the Nussbrunnen GG shows a very elegant and long-lasting style – taut, mineral, and with a long, precise finish.
