Description
The Hallgartener Jungfer is one of the most elegant Riesling sites in the upper Rheingau. The high-altitude vineyards with their slate and quartzite-rich soils lend the wine a fine, cool minerality and an exceptionally precise structure. Prinz's Grosses Gewächs showcases the site in a very purist and terroir-driven manner.
The 2022 vintage appears somewhat more open and approachable than the taut 2021, yet retains much tension and clarity. The Riesling combines riper fruit with salty minerality and a very harmonious acidity structure. Instead of loudness, the wine focuses on balance, elegance, and a quiet depth.
The vinification remains deliberately understated, so that the origin is uncompromisingly at the forefront. As a result, the Hallgartener Jungfer GG exhibits a very fine Rheingau style – precise, mineral, and with a long, elegant finish.
