Description
The Hallgartener Frühernberg is one of the coolest and most elegant Riesling vineyards in the Rheingau. The high-altitude vineyards with their slate and quartzite-rich soils lend the wine a fine, almost salty minerality and a very precise structure. Compared to warmer Rheingau sites, the Frühernberg often appears significantly tauter and cooler in its style.
In 2023, the Riesling is particularly vibrant and clear. The wine appears lean and focused but builds tremendous drive and tension. Instead of ripe opulence, Prinz consciously opts for freshness, herbal spice, and a very straightforward, terroir-driven style.
The vinification remains deliberately puristic and restrained so that the origin of the site is uncompromisingly at the forefront. As a result, the Frühernberg shows great precision, cool elegance, and a long, mineral finish with great finesse.
