Description
The Ried Burgstall is one of the cooler Riesling sites in the Wachau and is known for its elegant, mineral style. The steep terraces and barren primary rock soils provide a lot of tension and a clear, precise structure.
The 2024 vintage is particularly fresh and straightforward. As a Federspiel, the Riesling is light-footed and animating, yet very focused and full of character. Typical of Burgstall is the fine mineral vein and the cool elegance, which makes the wine incredibly drinkable.
Simon Gattinger opts for a reduced aging process so that origin and vintage remain clearly recognizable. This creates a Riesling with a lot of freshness, a clear Wachau style, and an elegant, long finish.
