Description

The Savagnin “Clos de la Colinette” 2024 from Château de l’Étoile is an exceptional Jura white wine from a secluded single-vineyard plot. Surrounded by forest, the Clos has a comparatively cool microclimate, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly. Old Savagnin vines and soils characterized by clay, silt, and limestone give the wine an exciting combination of concentration, freshness, and pronounced minerality.

In the glass, the 2024 initially appears precise and reserved, but opens up increasingly with aeration. Citrus fruits, white peach, and apricot combine with floral nuances and a delicate stony-smoky spice.

On the palate, the Clos de la Colinette has more depth and substance than the estate's classic Savagnin. Despite its concentration, it remains fresh and clear. A lively acidity and a pronounced mineral vein provide tension, while aging in neutral oak barrels adds additional texture. The long finish is salty, spicy, and precise. A distinctive Savagnin with a lot of personality and excellent development potential.
