The 2021 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr "Ur"-Alte Reben Riesling Spätlese from the Selbach-Oster winery on the Moselle is a semi-dry white wine of exceptional quality (VDP.Große Lage). It comes from the estate's oldest ungrafted vines, planted around 1900/1910. A complex yet delicate wine, it is highly concentrated with a unique, smooth silkiness on the palate. The wine is dense and long, displaying salty-mineral aromas of slate as well as attractive floral and fruit notes reminiscent of ripe stone fruit. Fermented to dryness, but not completely dry, this is a very complex and elegant wine with excellent aging potential. A versatile all-rounder, it pairs well with seafood, fish, and fine meat dishes, but is also a superb, expressive Riesling to enjoy on its own. It has excellent aging potential.
