Description
"Vau Renard" presents the particularly precise and mineral side of Chablis in a very clear form. The Kimmeridge limestone soils lend the Chardonnay a distinctive salty tension and a cool, straightforward structure, which is typical of high-quality Chablis wines. Roland Lavantureux deliberately interprets the site with a strong focus on terroir, freshness, balance, and transparency.
The 2023 vintage shows the wine to be lively and energetic, yet incredibly harmonious and focused in structure. The Chardonnay combines fine freshness with subtle spice and a very precise chalky minerality. Instead of opulent fruit or dominant oak usage, "Vau Renard" clearly emphasizes elegance, tension, and classic Chablis character. It is precisely this combination of freshness and depth that makes the wine particularly characterful.
