Description
The 2000 vintage is considered one of the legendary Bordeaux vintages – and Péby Faugères impressively showcases the opulent yet astonishingly precise style of the house. As the prestige cuvée of Château Faugères, Péby traditionally stands for maximum selection, enormous concentration, and a luxurious interpretation of the Right Bank of Bordeaux. The chalk and clay-rich soils of Saint-Émilion ensure freshness and mineral tension despite all the density.
Today, the 2000 vintage appears incredibly harmonious and profound. The powerful Merlot structure has wonderfully integrated with maturity, now exhibiting great silky elegance, dark spice, and an almost creamy tranquility. Instead of youthful power, the focus is now on balance, complexity, and aristocratic maturity.
The aging in wooden barrels was deliberately ambitious and modern but is now perfectly integrated. As a result, the Péby Faugères 2000 appears generous and luxurious, yet astonishingly refined and polished – a mature Saint-Émilion with enormous depth, a velvety structure, and a long, harmonious finish.
