Description
The 2019 Péby Faugères combines the luxurious power of the prestige cuvée with an exceptionally precise and elegant vintage style. The chalk and clay-rich elevated sites of Saint-Émilion lend the wine a cool mineral tension and remarkable freshness despite its enormous concentration. The 2019 vintage, in particular, beautifully showcases how balance and depth come together here.
The wine appears dense and intense, yet at the same time incredibly calm and finely structured. The ripe Merlot fruit combines with silky tannins, dark spice, and an almost salty precision. Instead of pure opulence, Péby Faugères clearly focuses on structure, harmony, and a modern, refined elegance. With air, the wine develops additional complexity and enormous inner calm.
The aging in oak barrels is generous but perfectly integrated, lending additional depth and texture. As a result, the 2019 vintage appears powerful and luxurious, yet surprisingly precise and long-lived – a modern Saint-Émilion with much substance, chalky freshness, and a long, silky finish.
