Description
The 2006 Péby Faugères displays a somewhat more classic and structured side of Saint-Émilion than the more opulent 2000 or 2018 vintages. As the prestige cuvée of Château Faugères, the wine nevertheless clearly represents concentration, depth, and a luxurious interpretation of the Right Bank of Bordeaux. The lime and clay-rich soils give it remarkable freshness and mineral tension.
Today, the 2006 appears very harmonious and elegantly matured. The tannins have integrated beautifully, giving the wine a silky, calm structure. Instead of youthful power, the focus is now on fine spice, ripe dark fruit, and an almost aristocratic balance. This combination of maturity and freshness makes the vintage particularly exciting.
The aging in oak barrels is now perfectly integrated and supports the wine's depth without being dominant. As a result, the 2006 Péby Faugères shows a very elegant and classic style – matured, complex, and with a long, harmonious finish full of Saint-Émilion character.
