Description
2016 is considered one of the great modern Bordeaux vintages, and Péby Faugères showcases this style in a particularly impressive way. As Château Faugères' prestige cuvée, the wine stands for maximum selection, enormous concentration, and a luxurious interpretation of Saint-Émilion. The limestone and clay-rich elevated sites lend the wine remarkable freshness and precision despite its density.
The 2016 appears incredibly profound yet perfectly controlled. The ripe Merlot fruit combines with fine spice, silky tannins, and a cool mineral tension to create a very harmonious overall picture. Instead of pure power, Péby Faugères clearly focuses on balance, structure, and an almost aristocratic calm.
The aging in oak barrels is generous but excellently integrated and supports the wine's enormous depth without overpowering it. As a result, the 2016 seems powerful and luxurious, yet exceptionally precise and long-lived – a modern Saint-Émilion with much substance, elegance, and a long, refined finish.
