Description
Dr. Wehrheim's Grauburgunder Birkweiler Keuper 2024 showcases a particularly distinctive and terroir-driven interpretation of the grape variety. The Keuper soils around Birkweiler impart a spicy, slightly earthy minerality to the wine while simultaneously ensuring a tight, precise structure.
In 2024, the Grauburgunder appears calm and clearly structured, with fine tension and great balance. Instead of opulent creaminess or broad fruit, Dr. Wehrheim consciously focuses on elegance, freshness, and a very straightforward style. The combination of cool minerality and subtle spice, in particular, makes the wine exceptionally characterful.
The vinification process remains intentionally restrained, allowing the origin and soil character to come to the fore. As a result, the village wine exhibits great precision, a fine texture, and a dry, mineral finish with a typical South Palatinate signature.
