Description
Dr. Wehrheim's 2024 Birkweiler Muschelkalk Pinot Blanc carries its origin in its name. The calcium-rich shell limestone soils around Birkweiler give the wine a cool minerality and a very precise, elegant structure. It is precisely this fine, salty tension that makes it much more characterful than many classic village Pinot Blancs.
The 2024 vintage presents itself as clear and straightforward, yet surprisingly calm and harmonious. Instead of broad creaminess, Dr. Wehrheim deliberately focuses on freshness, finesse, and a puristic style. This makes the Pinot Blanc very precise and almost Burgundian in character.
The vinification is deliberately understated so that the soil and origin clearly take center stage. The result is an elegant village wine with fine spice, a mineral pull, and a long, dry finish.
