Description
The "Am Dachsberg" is one of the most precise Riesling sites around Birkweiler. The barren soils of red sandstone and limestone give the wine a distinctive mineral tension and a rather cool, linear style. As a VDP.Erste Lage (1G), the Dachsberg stands for a strong expression of origin and a clear, terroir-driven signature.
The 2023 Riesling is incredibly focused and finely drawn. The wine appears taut and vibrant, yet at the same time calm and very harmoniously structured. Instead of opulent fruit, Dr. Wehrheim deliberately focuses on herbal spice, saline minerality, and a precise acid structure.
The vinification remains deliberately puristic and restrained so that the origin of the site clearly takes center stage. As a result, the Am Dachsberg appears very elegant and transparent with great draw, cool tension, and a long, mineral finish.
