Description
The Ried Dürnsteiner Burg vineyard is located directly below the historic Dürnstein castle ruins and is one of the most distinctive Riesling sites in the Wachau. The steep terraces with their sparse primary rock soils store a lot of heat during the day, while the cool nights along the Danube provide freshness and tension.
The 2024 vintage showcases the site with particular precision and elegance. The wine appears taut and mineral, yet at the same time very refined and harmonious. Typical of the Dürnsteiner Burg is this combination of power, salty minerality, and an almost cool clarity in the long finish.
FJ Gritsch relies on a very reduced aging process to ensure that the character of the site remains unadulterated. This results in a Riesling with strong provenance, structure, and great aging potential.
