Description
The Zeltinger Sonnenuhr is one of the great icons of the Mosel, and the "Ur-Alte Reben" (Ancient Vines) selection showcases this vineyard in its most concentrated yet most refined form. The ancient, ungrafted vines on the steep slate slopes produce extremely low yields, lending the wine exceptional depth and complexity.
In 2023, the Spätlese appears incredibly precise and almost weightless. Despite its intense concentration, the wine remains vibrant and elegant, supported by a delicate, salty slate minerality and a brilliant acid structure. Instead of opulent sweetness, Selbach-Oster consciously focuses on balance, transparency, and that almost ethereal Mosel lightness.
With aeration, the wine develops enormous calm and complexity. Delicate herbal spice, ripe fruit, and mineral tension intertwine perfectly, leading to a long, vibrant finish. A Spätlese of great elegance, depth, and exceptional aging potential.
