Description
Graacher Domprobst is one of the most distinguished Riesling vineyards on the Mosel. The deep Devonian slate soils around Graach give the wine an extraordinary combination of power, elegance, and an almost ethereal minerality. Selbach-Oster interprets the site in a very classic way: not loud or opulent, but precise, delicate, and with enormous inner tension.
In 2021, the "Großes Gewächs" (Grand Cru) appears incredibly focused and cool. The vintage brings crisp acidity, immense freshness, and a vibrant slate minerality that makes the wine seem almost electric. Instead of ripe fruit, the Domprobst clearly focuses on herbal spice, salty tension, and a very linear, terroir-driven structure.
With aeration, the Riesling develops immense calm and depth without losing its precision. The winemaking process remains deliberately puristic and restrained, ensuring that the origin is uncompromisingly at the forefront. As a result, the Graacher Domprobst GG displays a very classic and long-lived Mosel style – mineral, elegant, and with a long, vibrant finish.
