Description
The Ried Grassnitzberg is one of the coolest and most elegant Chardonnay sites in Southern Styria. The chalky soils and the high-altitude vineyards around Spielfeld lend the Morillon – the Styrian interpretation of Chardonnay – a striking mineral tension and a very precise structure. As a 1STK-site, the Grassnitzberg stands for clear origin character and a terroir-driven style.
The 2020 vintage presents itself as particularly calm and focused. The wine appears profound and finely structured, yet at the same time taut and clearly defined. Instead of opulent power, Tement consciously opts for elegance, balance, and an almost salty minerality.
The organic cultivation and the restrained aging in large wooden barrels underscore the origin of the site without overshadowing it. As a result, the Morillon exhibits a fine Burgundian style with great tension, mineral depth, and long aging potential.
