Description
Corton-Charlemagne is one of the greatest Chardonnay terroirs in the world, producing wines that exceptionally combine power, minerality, and precision. The high-altitude limestone and marl-rich soils on the Corton hill give the wine a striking saline tension and an almost monumental structure. Jean-Baptiste Boudier consciously interprets this Grand Cru with elegance and a strong sense of terroir – focusing on clarity and balance rather than pure opulence.
The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne is open and at the same time incredibly focused. The Chardonnay combines depth and concentration with precise mineral freshness and abundant energy. Instead of heavy creaminess or dominant oak usage, the wine clearly emphasizes limestone minerality, tension, and a very clear Burgundian linearity. It is precisely this combination of power and elegance that makes this Grand Cru so impressive.
The oak aging remains subtle and exceptionally integrated, ensuring that the origin and vintage remain uncompromisingly central. As a result, the Corton-Charlemagne displays a grand Côte de Beaune style – profound, mineral, with a long, saline-elegant finish and exceptional aging potential.
