Description
"Sous-Frétille" is one of the most elegant white Premier Cru sites in Pernand-Vergelesses. The high-altitude, calcareous soils give the Chardonnay an exceptionally precise minerality and a cool, almost ethereal tension. Jean-Baptiste Boudier consciously interprets the site in a terroir-driven way, with a strong focus on transparency, freshness, and Burgundian finesse.
In 2022, the Premier Cru is open and harmonious, yet incredibly clear and focused. The Chardonnay combines fine freshness with subtle spice and a very precise chalky structure. Instead of opulent creaminess or dominant oak usage, "Sous-Frétille" clearly emphasizes balance, elegance, and mineral tension. It is precisely this combination of energy and calm that makes the wine so characterful.
The oak aging remains subtle and exceptionally well integrated, ensuring that the origin and vintage remain uncompromisingly at the forefront. As a result, the Pernand-Vergelesses Premier Cru displays a very classic Côte de Beaune style – mineral, elegant, and with a long, finely salty finish.
