Description
Jean-Baptiste Boudier's 2022 Pernand-Vergelesses blanc particularly impressively showcases the cool and mineral side of the Côte de Beaune. The high-altitude, calcareous soils around Pernand lend the Chardonnay a precise, saline tension and a distinctly tauter style than many softer Meursault types. Boudier consciously interprets the appellation with a strong focus on terroir, freshness, and elegance.
In 2022, the wine presents itself as open and harmonious, yet incredibly clear and focused. The Chardonnay combines fine freshness with subtle spice and a very precise mineral structure. Instead of opulent creaminess or dominant oak, the wine clearly emphasizes balance, limestone minerality, and Burgundian finesse. It is precisely this combination of tension and elegance that gives the Pernand-Vergelesses its distinctive character.
The oak aging remains subtle and exceptionally well integrated, ensuring that the origin and vintage take uncompromising center stage. As a result, the Pernand-Vergelesses blanc displays a very classic Côte de Beaune style – mineral, elegant, and with a long, finely saline finish.
