Description
The Abtsberg Auslese No. 69 Schlosskeller-Reserve is one of Maximin Grünhaus's rarest and most profound wines. The famous Abtsberg, with its cool blue Devonian slate soils, lends even highly concentrated Auslese an almost weightless elegance and an exceptionally precise minerality. Through long maturation in the historic Schlosskeller, this Reserve additionally gains tranquility, depth, and aristocratic complexity.
2018 brings much ripeness and concentration, yet the vibrant acidity and salty slate minerality keep the wine impressively fresh and focused. The Auslese appears dense and monumental, yet at the same time incredibly finely drawn and never heavy. Instead of mere sweetness, the Schlosskeller-Reserve clearly focuses on balance, tension, and depth.
Number 69 stands for a particularly selective batch of exceptional quality. In the half-bottle, the wine often develops a little faster and shows its enormous complexity earlier. This makes the Auslese fascinatingly open today – with ripe fruit, delicate herbal spice, and a long, floating finish full of mineral precision.
