Description
The Schlosskeller-Reserve from Abtsberg is one of the most monumental Rieslings from Maximin Grünhaus. Abtsberg itself is the estate's most famous vineyard and known for its cool blue Devonian slate soils, which lend the wines an almost crystalline minerality and enormous tension. The additional aging time in the historic Schlosskeller further enhances the reserve's depth, tranquility, and complexity.
The 2022 Grosses Gewächs presents itself as more powerful and somewhat more open than the taut 2021s, while retaining the typical precision of the Ruwer. The Riesling appears dense and concentrated, yet incredibly fine and elegant. Instead of fruit fullness, the Schlosskeller-Reserve clearly focuses on salty slate minerality, herbal spice, and an almost aristocratic calmness.
The long aging gives the wine additional texture and an exceptionally harmonious balance between power and lightness. This makes the Abtsberg GG Schlosskeller-Reserve incredibly profound and long-lived – a precise, mineral Ruwer Riesling with a long, vibrant finish and great aging potential.
