Description
Herrenberg is one of Maximin Grünhaus's most elegant and subtly spiced sites. The red Devonian slate soils around the Ruwer give the wine a special combination of cool minerality, fine spice, and silky structure. Compared to the often firmer Abtsberg, the Herrenberg appears somewhat more open and harmonious, without losing its typical precision.
In 2024, the Grosses Gewächs is incredibly clear and finely delineated. The Riesling appears taut and vibrant, yet at the same time calm and almost ethereal in its character. Instead of opulent fruit, Maximin Grünhaus deliberately focuses on herbal spice, salty slate minerality, and an elegant, linear structure. It is precisely this balance of tension and finesse that makes the Herrenberg so distinctive.
The vinification remains deliberately classic and puristic, so that the origin is uncompromisingly at the forefront. As a result, the Herrenberg GG exhibits a very typical Ruwer style – precise, mineral, with a long, elegant finish and great aging potential.
